AP PreCalculus with Dr. Martha Cantrell

This face-to-face workshop will give AP Precalculus teachers an opportunity to review the FRQ task models and gain familiarity with the scoring guidelines. Participants will practice scoring student samples and gain insight into typical student errors. Sample student activities will be shared and collaboration among participants encouraged. Participants may bring samples of student work for discussion in regard to scoring or feedback.

About Dr. Cantrell
Dr. Martha Cantrell taught high school mathematics for 39 years with more than 30 years of experience teaching AP Calculus and more than 25 years of experience teaching Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry and Precalculus. Dr. Cantrell has led regional AP Calculus workshops for the Georgia Department of Education, served as an AP Reader for AP Calculus from 2007 to 2020, and has served as an Early Table Leader for the AP Precalculus Reading since the first exam in 2024. She has served as an AP Precalculus consultant, leading AP Summer Institutes for the College Board in 2023 – 2025 and has also served as a consultant for the National Math and Science Institute (NMSI), leading Saturday study sessions for AP Calculus for students in Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. While continuing to teach AP courses, Dr. Cantrell began serving as District Gifted Program Coordinator for Habersham County Schools in 2008, as a 50% position, where she oversaw K-12 gifted services, led professional learning targeting identification of underserved populations, and worked to serve all students ready for advanced academic offerings until her retirement in 2025 after a 45 year career in education.
